Sam Gowing is a multifaceted artist with over three decades of experience across Melbourne, Sydney, and the Gold Coast. A graduate of the College of Fine Arts (COFA), Sydney, her practice spans sculpture, design, teaching, and environmental advocacy. Early works explored identity and the fragility of self, before evolving towards themes inspired by the ocean and native wildlife. Sam’s sculptural works examine the resilience and vulnerability of nature, often using altered scale, unexpected colour, and illumination to highlight transparency and transformation. Her evolving pieces invite reflection on humanity’s connection to, and responsibility for, the natural world.
