My name is Michael Jianmin Wang, and I was born on August 24, 1956, in Tianjin, China. I earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts with a major in Sculpture from the Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing, China, in June 1985. During my time there, I received the top prize in the annual art competition at “The Annual Arts Exhibition” for four consecutive years, from 1981 to 1985. After graduation, I gained extensive teaching experience as a lecturer in the Department of Sculpture at the Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing from 1985 to 1988. My responsibilities included preparing lectures on drawing and sculpting techniques, supervising the studio work of sculpture students, and organizing and accompanying students on practical study tours across various provinces in China. Since 1988, I have lived in Brisbane, where I received a Master of Fine Arts in Visual Arts from Griffith University’s Queensland College of Art in December 1998. I’ve been a self-employed artist (freelance), designing and creating artworks for private or commercial purposes. My artworks have been exhibited in various places as follows: • “Line” – In Celebration of the Centennial of Central Academy of Fine Arts, China Cultural Centre, Sydney 2018 • “Wish you were here” at Smith + Stoneley On Stratton, Brisbane in 1999 • “East Coast Sculpture Show” at Thursday Plantation, NSW in 1998, • “Pagoda” Solo Exhibition at Smith + Stoneley on Stratton, Brisbane in 1997, • “Diverse Visions” Gallery of Queensland College of Art in 1997,
