Sculpting instinctively, I have found myself making creatures and things, reflecting from my childhood. Growing up in Pomona Qld on a small farm at the base of Mt Cooroora, close to the ocean and bush, evokes an exploration of my sense of place. I smell the bush, inhaling her familiar smells. Growing Strawberries my Mother Fay and my Grandmother Ida, picked in the fields, under the hot Queensland sun. I feel a consciousness of time passed, present and future. This mountain life is part of who I am. The land traditionally owned by the Guppi Guppi tribe certainly made thier spirits present in the surrounding bush, as a child exploring these are the things I felt. This White and gold Strawberry represents Fay my mother, pure as gold with Mother of Pearl Hugh. The Strawberry will exhibitionually be my Mother's urn, to lay her ashes, to remind our family and friend's of her amazing life. In Honour of my Mother 'Fay'. Always will remain forever in our hearts.
