"My interest in creating physical representations of the animate & inanimate ‘images & things’ in the world around me began early in my life. Now I am always looking for & observing sculpturally inspiring subjects, especially during my numerous world travels.
Since my first Sculptors Queensland Exhibition, I became determined to harness my visual imagination and hands-on skills into creating diverse sculptures, using a variety of mediums - recently stone and polystyrene. Numerous sculpture skills workshops have developed my sculpting capabilities. Among my favourite sculptural subjects are the human female form, animals & all nature.
My exaggeratedly enlarged, cut-a-way seashell sculpture series are common objects seen from a perspective that challenges the viewer’s perceptions. My Polar Bear & Koala sculptures are my attempt to create a series of small, simplistic, stylised animal sculptures, inspired by the simplest form of animals created via Hot Glass. In future, I plan to devote more of my time & energy to expressing my sculptural imagination through a variety of sculptural Media & Subjects." Perry Wagner-Grose
