Tiana Jefferies is a Brisbane based artist using casting, performative and photogrammetry techniques to form sculptural installations. Using concrete, plaster and wax to cast the spaces inside, around, and between found objects, Jefferies aims to capture and manipulate lingering affective qualities or emotional resonances. These casts are integrated with their originals to form a playful, interconnected visual language based on negative space.
As SQ’s upcoming resident, Tiana has proposed to explore and document the unique architectures of her new studio. She will also host a series of interactive events that investigate negative space through the use of single use plastics, showing us how familiar objects can be sites of speculation and learning.
Jefferies completed a Bachelor of Fine Art at the Queensland College of Art with a Griffith Award for Academic Excellence in 2018 and is currently completing her Masters of Philosophy in Experimental Creative Practice at the Queensland University of Technology.
