VIOLENT MODERATION, a new sculpture by Artist Erika Scott, will be assembled from a variety of household products such as chairs, clothes hanging systems, wind chimes and resined cleaning microfibres.
Erika Scott's art practice modifies single-use objects into self-contained eco-systems, their material natures both in a dialogue and uncompromising battle with themselves.
Her artist talk will discuss her passions and process, her affiliation with DIY communities and ideologies of collecting and collage. Scott will also touch on her activities as a director of two local Artist Run Initiatives, 'Accidentally Annie Street Space' and 'The Soylent Spot', speaking about what it means to organise and exhibit art in unusual contexts.
Erika Scott completed an honours degree in Fine Art the Queensland University of Technology. She was selected to participate in emerging category of the 2016 Redlands Konica Minolta Art Prize and has exhibited with Screen Space and Bus Projects in Melbourne. Some of her work has been acquired by the International Museum of Collage, Assemblage and Construction in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
