BIOGRAPHY:
My present sculpture works are public artworks commissions in bronze of historical and spiritual narrative portraits.
My outlook on design and sculpture are influenced by travel, culture, history, myths, aesthetics, and a love of nature. Symbols and form that reflect movement and tell a narrative, as well as expression in portraiture have evolved from recent trips to Italy.
In 2011 I completed a Master of Contemporary Art. I have continued to study overseas, with master sculptors.
In August 2012 I won 1st prize for Figurative Sculpture at RNA sculpture show Brisbane.
In October 2012 my commission of four larger-than-life-size busts was unveiled in Brisbane. To add contemporary elements, but retain historical likenesses, I manipulated costumes to create form and texture in bronze. The stone plinths were carved so that the bronzes emerge and appear as part of the sandstone.
Presently I am completing a large water feature. This work has two interacting bronze figures that are significant for Catholic Education in Australia, specifically for The Christian Brothers Order, founded by Edmund Rice.
