Sculptors Queensland is a volunteer run, not for profit organisation whose mission is to promote the appreciation and creation of sculpture in our state.
Sculpture comprises works of art in three dimensions of any material and scale.
Our enthusiastic group of sculptors meets at our studio and forum venue in a heritage building within the grounds of the Old Queensland Museum at Bowen Hills.
Forums are held at 7.30 on the first Tuesday of each month, with a few published exceptions, to share ideas and to socialise. Members and others are invited to present talks about their works, influences and experiences. Visitors are welcome to attend.
Sculptors Queensland offers regular, informal sessions of life drawing and modeling. More structured workshops are held where members share their skills with participants. Members and non members are invited to attend for a modest fee.
We would like people who use our facilities to become members, but joining is not a prerequisite to attendance.
Our monthly newsletter is emailed to our members and to any other people and organisations with an interest in sculpture. It reports on our activities and wider sculptural activities in Australia and provides details of sculpture exhibitions.
Each year, we present members’ sculptures to the general public at The Brisbane Sculpture Festival, a well attended exhibition at Mt Coot-tha Botanic Gardens. Large outdoor sculptures are installed in the gardens and smaller works are displayed in the Auditorium. Sculptures are offered for sale. Members are in attendance to advise the public about our works and to demonstrate techniques.
Our website showcases members and their works, some of which are offered for sale.
If you are interested in sculpture and would like to meet people with similar interests, we would be happy to send you our monthly newsletter and to welcome you to our forums.
